You feel it straight away in the grinding figure of Dopamine, where Iommis riff scythes while Hughes belts with that elastic edge. Saviour of the Real lifts into a big, melodic chorus without losing the grit, and the multi-part closer I Go Insane stretches out with classic Iommi dynamics and a surprisingly emotional finish. This 2LP translucent cobalt blue pressing gives the guitars and vocals more breathing room, and the low end sits deeper without turning to mud. Imaging also feels clearer, so Aronoffs kick and toms hit with purpose rather than blur. File it alongside Iommis heavier 90s Sabbath era and Hughes tough mid-90s solo run; it sits neatly between those worlds and still sounds current in a Melbourne living room today.
