Primitive Cool embraces sharp, clean pop-rock, with Throwaway bubbling over a bright guitar line and Party Doll easing into a surprisingly tender sway. Across the record hes focused, melodic, a little gym-honed but never hollow. This new LP pressing gives the songs air; imaging opens up and the low end sits deeper, so the kick and those gummy bass lines finally push the room. Vocals sit forward without harshness, letting the bite in his phrasing cut through. It belongs next to late-80s Stones, the place where tight songwriting met glossy production, and it shows how Jagger carried that thread on his own terms.
