Few venues loom as large in music history as the Cavern, birthplace of the Beatles and Cilla Black, and demolished in 1973. This recording preserves the very last night before the wrecking balls moved in at dawn. Caliban’s early-’70s guitar-driven attack honours rock ‘n’ roll roots while pre-empting a distinctly British punk ethos, aligning them with Stack Waddy and Third World War, yet heavier and fiercer. Hugely popular locally, once supported by Judas Priest, this long-lost debut finally reveals Caliban: raw, confrontational, and uncompromisingly loud.
