Whether as a phone ringtone, in hotel lobbies, or in commercials for luxury goods, Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons have achieved a presence in everyday life today that the composer could not have imagined 300 years ago. However, it would be a shame to overlook the innovative testament to Baroque inventiveness that these violin concertos are, given their enormous popularity.
